Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, yesterday, revealed that former President Goodluck Jonathan left only $2.5 billion in the coffers of the Federal Government in 2015, and also, said the corruption perpetrated by the immediate past administration of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is responsible for the current harsh economy in the country.
He disclosed that former President Olusegun Obasanjo left $68 billion in the treasury and expressed worry as to why Jonathan left only $2.5 billion for President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
Amaechi is the director general of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council. He spoke in Akure, capital of Ondo State, during the party’s presidential campaign rally held at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park, where Buhari, his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu called on the people of Ondo state to support the APC for continuation of the fight against corruption.
Buhari assured that his government will intensify the fight against corruption if given the opportunity to serve for a second term,
with assurance that Nigeria will soon be free from corruption if the APC wins the next presidential election.
He said the money recovered from those found culpable of various corrupt offences would be used to develop the country, adding that his plan is to develop the country and make it stand tall among the comity of nations.
Buhari also said, already, his administration is winning the war against insecurity as, according to him, government has recovered some communities in Borno State which had hitherto been captured by Boko Haram.
On his part, Osinbajo, at the rally, assured that Buhari’s administration will create 1.5million jobs for unemployed youths if given a second term in office.
